Two Models of the Safer Boat

One model has built-in thrusters.
The other model has a reinforced back wall for mounting your own motor.

Built-in Thruster Model

The first big advantage of the thruster model, is that you don't have to carry around a bulky trolling motor. It is so convenient to always have your propulsion with you. Another advantage is that you have propulsion in shallow water, as little as 6 inches. And you never damage a prop. The props are built inside the boat. And they are light weight.

When it is windy, it is harder to steer the boat using the separate throttles for the two thrusters. But this model also comes with a mount for a paddle. When mounted, the paddle acts as a powerful rudder, and then you can steer into the wind at any angle and mainttain course.

Another advantage of the thrusters, is that the throttle takes up almost no room at the back of the boat. This gives you maximum use of the boat's capacity. With a mounted trolling motor, the steering handle often comes far enough into the interior of the boat, so as to cut out a seat or two at the back of the boat.

Motor mount model

The motor mount model has a solid board across the back wall interior, wiith an external mounting plate on the inside, for the tightening bolts, and an indented aluminum bar for the mounting slot of a trolling motor. It can handle up to a 3.5 horsepower motor. It handles both gasoline motors (we use a Yamaha 2.6 horsepower gas motor for bigger lakes), or electric trolling motors. (We use a Minn Kota C2 30 with a short shaft for small lakes and ponds.)

A benefit of the motor mount model is that is way less expensive, allowing you to get all the safety features and enjoyment of the Safer Boat at a lower cost.

Another benefit, is that on large lakes, and where wind is prevelant, you can use a more powerful gas or electric trolling motor.
