There are many small boats on the market. But none have all of the features that make this boat so much more useful and enjoyable.
Compare the folded up Safer-Boat fitting in a trailer with a lot of other gear, to the single person kayaks hanging out of the truck bed on the left of the photo. The kayaks are too big, and are awkward to transport. The Safer-Boat sits flat and secure. But on the water, the Safer-Boat will acommodate 6 people, while the kayak serves only one person.
We have a big car. But we also have a big family. So we make the boat ride outside on the hitch carrier. We made the carrier from an aluminum frame, topped with PVC pipe which exactly fits the xxx that are molded into the boat bottom. That keeps the Safer-Boat from sliding around, when strapped down. We also have a PVC ramp, shown on the top of the boat. Using the ramp, one person can slide the boat on and off of the hitch carrier. That is handy when grandpa takes a group of grandkids that are too small to help lift the boat onto the carrier. We added a winch, that you can see on the left side of the carrier. But we have since learned that it is just as easy to push the boat up the ramp to load it. What other boat will fit on a hitch receiver, and still be able to carry four grandkids when you get to the lake?
What other boat will fit in the back of a small two-person side-by-side? Remember that the Safer-Boat has everything inside the box, including life jackets, battery, motor, paddle, seats, etc. We had an inflatable boat, and the main boat bundle would fit in this same amount of space, although it would roll around and was hard to tie down. But then there was the separate floor board and seat package, and the separate battery, and the separate trolling motor, and the inflator, and the life jackets. We just couldn't get all the stuff in the side-by-side and keep it all tied down.
What other small boat has solid flat side seating, and is so stable that the kids can dangle their feet in the water? Or they can reach out over the side of the boat and splash their hands in the water. Or they can stand and reach out to net a fish? Have all the fun that they want, without you having to nag the kids to not rock the boat. Total stability is one of the features that give the Safer-Boat its name.
